Pointers
Each year hundreds of people are nominated by their friends and family to have a makeover and some of those stand out more than others, they aren’t always the best written or longest submissions. The best nominations are heartfelt, tell an inspiring story, and capture the essence of what it means to be a modern-day inspiration to women.
If you would like a pointer on what to provide in your submission start with an outline of what makes your nominee stand out. What activities or actions do they do? What have they accomplished in their personal or professional life that inspires you? What personal challenges have they overcome in their life? How have they helped their community, family or even the nation? How does this person make you feel? How would a makeover or pamper pack make them feel?
Criteria
We are looking for people who come from all walks of life, and see nominations from people of all shapes, sizes, sexual orientations, backgrounds, and just about everything else you can think of. This is a safe and friendly space to celebrate Australian women.
In choosing a person to nominate, we are looking for someone whose challenges and success are distilled from their personal journey. An individual only needs to be nominated once to be considered, the number of nominations received per nominee doesn’t impact their selection. Only submissions from the nomination form will be considered.
Nominees must be at least 16 years of age at the time of nomination. Groups of people or couples will not normally be eligible though they can be considered.
Terms and conditions
While we review every submission, and we would love to guarantee that everyone nominated receives a makeover or pamper pack, our resources are limited to in-kind donations of products and services. Our ongoing mission is brought to life by our sponsors, partners and pro bono services which restrict our activity from time to time. If you have nominated someone and haven’t heard back, don’t fret – your submission doesn’t have an expiry.
This is considered a game of skill that does not use a random draw. The review and selection process is made by Donny Galella and the Highlight for Heroes team with the information that was available to them at the time a submission was made. Decisions are independent and unbiased by prejudices.
