Top 10 tips to find that perfect swimsuit.

This (warm) week I’ve received a flood of SOS calls to help with swimwear. So here are my top 10 tips to find THAT perfect swimsuit and to address those common body issues that all women have.

Lets begin with….

Got a small bust? No dramas. Look for swimmers with horizontal stripes that run across your bust, this will create the illusion of having a bigger bust. And of course, any styles with in-built padding (like a wonder-bra) will help.

Seafolly $99.95 stripe bikini top

OR look for a bikini top that has ruffles or pleat details this will also help make your bust look more full (bigger).

All About Evie $59.95

If you’re concerned about your tummy, then look for a sexy one piece that has rouching or pleat detail across the tummy, this will help disguise your area of concern.

2 Chillies $89.95 –

For those concerned about their mid section, a singlet bikini (or tankini) can be a great option. It feels like a one piece but you can lift up / roll up the singlet a fraction to show some skin (so it feels like a 2 piece). A fabulous compromise.

Seafolly singlet $119.95, bottoms $59.95

2 Chillies Tankini $48.95 from

Prints are much more flattering, they can help disguise lumps and bumps much more than a solid colour like all black. This swimsuit features an internal control panel and rouching across the tummy. have a great range especially designed to help reshape your body (much like magic undergarments do).

Concerned about your bottom half? then draw attention to your top half by wearing a bright colour and/ or print bikini top on the top and simple black on the bottom. People’s eyes will be drawn to colour/ print and focus on your top half. Maybe add a necklace or wear a large floppy hat to draw the attention up north.

If your body shape is rectangle (not curvy), then choose a swimsuit to help you create the illusion of curves. Your best friend here is a monokini. Notice how the two cut out panels create nice curved lines which create the illusion of curves.

Miss Cocoa $94.95

OR look for a one piece that has cleverly coloured panels that create the illusion of shapely curves, much like this one…

Jets $179.95

For bigger busted babes, look for bikini tops or swimsuits that offer great support for your gals. Halter necks are a great style for you. Plus thicker straps or a tiny capped sleeve will help frame your bust.

EziBuy halter $79.99

The Fever Plunge Swimsuit has hidden underwire and a panelled body for a gorgeous shape and most importantly straps are adjustable to fit.

Freya Fever $73.10 from Trixian Body (sizes up to G cup)

What’s great about these styles…

Your eyes go straight to the print/ stipes (so the focus is the upper half), the horizontal stripes help make the bust look bigger and the higher waisted bottoms help hide the tummy. (Rusty brand from The Iconic $79.99)

For the sexy plus size girls City Chic have a great range. I love this one piece, the colourful bust detail draws the eye up north and the lines flatter the bust line. $99.95 from City Chic.

This one piece from Jets ($130) is an ‘optical illusion’ swimsuit, the blue panels make you look more narrow and slimmer than you really are. Gotta love that.

If you have a small budget (under $60), check out Big W, Target and KMart they have a fab range this season.
