Myer Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show

Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith have launched the Myer Spring Summer 2013 Collections tonight at Hordern Pavilion in a spectacular parade that showcased over 170 new season looks by Myer’s leading stable of Australian designers.

The Myer Spring Summer show drew inspiration from the diverse landscapes of Pilansberg National Park in South Africa where the advertising campaign was shot in May. The spectacular launch played out in an intimate circular catwalk, a suspended abstract landscape constructed from thousands of individual rope lengths that hovered high above the audience transforming the space and creating our journey to South Africa.

Jennifer opened the show wearing a colourful red print Toni Maticevski dress, along side her were six models wearing (pictured below) custom made designs created by other Myer designers with fabric imported from the recent shoot in South Africa. The additional designers in the spectacular opening section were Jayson Brunsdon, Fleur Wood, Ellery, Aurelio Costarella, sass & bide and Manning Cartell.

Jennifer took to the catwalk four more times through the show wearing gorgeous designs from Ellery, Manning Cartell, Cozi and Aurelio Costarella.

Kris Smith appeared on the catwalk four times showcasing leading Myer menswear brands Arthur Galan AG, Dom Bagnato, Blaq and renowned Australian swimwear label Speedo, new to Myer this season.

Aurelio Costarella closed the show to a breathtaking and emotionally stirring live performance by Brisbane born artist, Emma Louise singing her latest single ‘Jungle’.

Complementing the fashion was the stunning looks created by the incredible Kevin Murphy and YSL hair and makeup teams.

Myer was delighted to have YSL on board this season, as this was the first time that they have partnered with one of their retailers in this capacity, which is a huge coo for both brands. Myer CEO Bernie Brookes sat front row alongside Myer’s leading designers, including Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, Kym Ellery, Karen Walker, Magdalena Velevska, Arthur Galan, Yeojin Bae, Jayson Brunsdon, Aurelio Costarella, Nicola Finetti, Leona Edmiston and Wayne Cooper.

Among the 450 guests also in attendance were a number of Sydney’s most fashionable celebrities including Myer Ambassadors Laura Dundovic and Lauren Phillips. Australian personalities and celebrities included Alicia Coutts, Danielle Spencer, Axle Whitehead, Natalie Gruzlewski, Laura Csortan, David Koch, Melissa Doyle, Kelly Landry, Kyly Clark, Pip Edwards, April Rose Pengilly and General Peter Cosgrove.
